This service aims to promote and facilitate the shooting in the territory in order to stimulate and consolidate the cinematographic and audiovisual industry and to stimulate the economic sectors related to the region.
The Maresme commitment to position its destination not only as a tourist and holiday site, but also as a location for audiovisual and advertising projects. With this objective and taking into account the growing interest of many audiovisual producers to come and shoot ads, series and films in the region, the creation of the Maresme Film Commission has been promoted. This instrument was presented on Thursday, March 22, with the experts and representatives of the municipalities of the Maresme. A session that was attended by the representative of the Catalunya Film Commission, Carlota Guerrero, who explained the project and the benefits of the implementation of the service.
This instrument, that will be made available to all the municipalities of the region adhered to the Maresme Film Commission, will have like fundamental objective to promote and facilitate the shooting in the territory of the region. Among its main tasks, attention and follow-up on audiovisual projects are highlighted; the monitoring and coordination with the public administrations and individuals adhered to the organ; the realization of an inventory of locations in order to make a file of spaces; and the creation of a web space to disseminate these services, among others.
From Costa de Maresme Tourism Promotion Consortium, as the driving force behind this instrument, the need to collect all the information necessary for audiovisual and amateur producers and professional producers – both cinematographic and advertising – and to establish common parameters in relation to the rates and conditions of employment of the shared public space throughout the region.
According to the president of the Costa del Maresme Tourist Promotion Consortium, Joaquim Arnó, “the desire behind the creation and the existence of a Film Commission is to give all the facilities to the producers so that they can find in the Maresme the locations they need for their filming, giving projection to our region and boosting local economic sectors, such as hospitality, catering … ‘.
And the creation of the Maresme Film Commission will be the main beneficiaries of the municipalities of the region that are part of the service, as it will save them from having to manage the requests of audiovisual producers individually, but will also benefit from a broad set of Local economic sectors (hoteliers, restaurateurs …) and, therefore, will have a positive impact on the economy of the Maresme.
The Maresme Film Commission wants to contribute to stimulate and consolidate the Catalan cinematographic and audiovisual industry and the related services throughout the territory, adding to the actions that are carried out in the future Costa Barcelona Film Cluster and those generated by the Catalunya Film Commission.
